FNX BMP 2007

After two missed opportunities in the last year, I finally got to see Bloc Party live at the FNX BMP 2007. I've always liked how the BMP is a good chance to check out bands that perhaps I would not have gone to see individually. And being a street festival, I don't have to trek out to the middle nowhere and camp out for days. Anyway, besides Bloc Party, I managed to catch Shiny Toy Guns and The Bravery. Shiny Toys Guns has been a bit of a guilty pleasure recently, a bit much on some of the emo trappings perhaps but definitely catchy synth-rock. Had to call it a night part way through The Bravery set though. After hours of squeezing through the crowd to get close to front stage, I'd pretty much lost all hearing after getting too close to the speakers. One band I regret missing was Bang Camaro, I've heard they have somewhere between 15 and 20 lead singers and the live shows are absolutely nutty.

I'm so behind the times. . .

I use Google Maps all the time but never noticed it but how long has this Street View feature been available? Such a cool feature. . . I just spent the last half hour wandering virtually through Manhattan. . .

Just because you can. . .

I remember thinking how absurd a stretch Hummer was several years ago but now those are pretty much every where. . . But a stretch pick-up? C'mon that's a bit much, no? First time I've ever seen one of these in my neck of the woods but I guess it's the thing for the kiddies this prom season. . .

Holy Crap

Randy Moss to the Patriots for a 4th round pick? Wouldn't have figured that a few years ago. . . Will the real Bill Belichek and Patriots please stand up because the last 2 months, this team is suddenly spending money and wheelin' an dealin' like the stuff is going to rot. . .

Shoulda, Coulda, Woulda. . .

The universe must be conspiring against me ever seeing Bloc Party live as I've now missed their show in Boston again. . . If I had known they were in town the same day as Snow Patrol, I would have skipped the latter and gone to see the former. Nothing against Snow Patrol, only I've seen their live act before and something new would have been nice. At least I did get to see OK Go open. . . Just can't get enough of that treadmill video. . .
